Binary code
- The binary code is a system representing numbers, letters, commands, images and sounds.
- Amazingly it uses only 2 types of information 0's and 1's
- This bring of 0's and 1's may seem random but of course they're not.
- Binary code is at the heart of anything that goes on your computer
The Binary number system
- This system is a base-two system, meaning it only uses two distinct digits- 0 and 1
the decimal number system
- this system is the one we are all familiar with and it is a base-ten system. This means it uses ten distinct digits.
- The digits are- 0, 1, 2, 3 , 4 , 5 ,6 , 7 , 8 ,9

- The word binary comes from "bi" meaning two
- Think of the words: biocycle, binocular
- when you say binary numbers, you must pronounce each digit
- A single binary digit 0 or 1 is called a bit
- Example: 1101 is a five bit long
